Genesis, History & Logistics of Andhra Pradesh Assemblies of God
Southern AsiaBible College, Bangalore has been the launching pad from the last 50 years in training and disseminating choice ministerial candidates into the variegated fields of Southern Asia.
The Lord in His mercy has led many of our Telugu Leaders for study and ushered them in a Battery of Pioneer ministers to work in the Telugu fields. Rev. Israel after his studies went to Chiluvuru, the pioneer point for the A.G. work in Andhra Pradesh. Ps. Bhushanam hails from this church. In 1971, Rev. John Thannikal visited Ongole and encouraged Rev. Sadhu Joseph to join the work of Assemblies of God. Rev. G Peter and Rev. K. Prabhudas after their studies started to work in Bellary and Ongole respectively.
In 1987, the then Central District which comprised of Karnataka and Andhra was bifurcated resulting in the formation of a separate District of Andhra Pradesh. Rev. C. Earl Stubbs wrote the constitution and bylaws, and in September 1988 the maiden convocation was held during that time Rev. G. Peter was elected as the Superintendent, Rev. K. Prabhudas as the Assistant General Superintendent, Rev. K. Padma Rao as the Secretary & Treasurer, Rev. Jacob John as member and Rev. Earl C. Stubbs as the missionary and thus the first committee came into being.
The District that started with fifteen churches, now has about more than 200 churches comprising about 25,000 believers as on 2003.
